Mental Health Helplines and Resources

This week is #mentalhealthawarenessweek , so I thought that I would make a list of some helplines, resources and places to turn to when you’re struggling with your mental health.

Samaritans are open 24/7 and the number is free to call, you can also visit them in your local Samaritans branch.


Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) Website: www.thecalmzone.net/ Webchat: www.thecalmzone.net/help/webchat/ Tel: 0800 58 58 58 (Nationwide) 0808 802 58 58 (London)

CALM is a charity that focuses on male suicide, calls are free and open from 5pm to midnight.


Papyrus Website: www.papyrus-uk.org/ Email: pat@papyrus-uk.org Text: 07786209697 Tel: 0800 068 41 41 (Open weekdays 10am – 10pm, weekends 2pm-10pm, bank holidays 2pm-10pm)

Papyrus is a charity dedicated to preventing suicide, especially in young people under 35. Calls are free, yet you will be charged your standard network rate for text messages.


ChildLine focuses on people under 19 and cover a whole range of issues and calls are free.


The Silver Line Website: www.thesilverline.org.uk/ Tel: 0800 4 70 80 90

The Silver Line is a helpline for older people aged 55 and over, their helpline is free and is open 24/7.


Mind is a mental health charity that provides information and support for mental illness. You will be charged for your call and text messages.


Kooth

Online support for young people, open weekdays 12pm–10pm and weekends 6pm–10pm.

The Mix provide support for people under 25, they also offer telephone and webchat counselling. Calling their helpline on 0808 808 4994 is free.


Students Against Depression Website: www.studentsagainstdepression.org/ Self-help: www.studentsagainstdepression.org/self-help/ This is a website that supports people with depression, it provides information and self-help guides to help you cope.


If you need help with your mental health you also call your GP, NHS 111 or your mental health crisis team. If your life is in danger, you’ve hurt yourself or you’re suicidal, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E.
