My Favourite Things About Autumn | Blogtober Day Eight, 2020

Last year, I wrote a post named Ten Things That I love About Autumn, but this year I'm writing 'My Favourite Things about Autumn'. So, y'know.... it's a different post. Right?

Okayy, fine. But I just love Autumn! This post will be a little more in-depth to really get you in the autumnal mood!

1. To wrap up warm for a morning walk One of my favourite things about autumn is to go for a morning walk, when the air is so fresh and invigorating. Wrapped up warm in a soft scarf, a knitted jumper and a snuggly coat. The Dream.

Take a moment to mindfully notice the leaves fall from the trees, the changing colours of the season and autumnal sounds around you. Feel the crispness in the air around you and embrace the changes of autumn. I don't know about you, but if there's ever a cluster of leaves, I'll make sure to walk right through them and do my best to crunch as many of them as I can. There's nothing like the feeling and sound of the crisp autumnal leaves crunching under your feet. It's something that I used to love as a child, and still do now!

2. Bring out the jumpers! This time of year is when my bank account hates me. I don't really like the fashion throughout the Summer season, I'm not one for crop tops or bikinis - Autumn and Winter are far more me. Knitted jumpers, cute dungarees, soft scarves and warm woolly hats - that's my kind of shopping! I've already bought far more jumpers that I should have...

Similarly, I've been eyeing up the trench coats - they are the dream! I love the way they swish as you walk, but as I'm petite at a wee 5ft, they may not suit me! Hm... to buy or not to buy?

3. Reading Aesthetic

Is there anything better than cosying up in front of the fire, with the rain pattering on the window and a cup of hot choc in hand? It's my most favourite time to read as it makes me feel so cosy and warm! Also, sitting outside reading a good book on a park bench (as long as it's not too chilly!) while watching the leaves fall can feel really refreshing and invigorating in a morning.

4. Baking

Bake Off (GBBO) is on the telly, smells of cinnamon and spice are everywhere, pumpkin cupcakes and goodies are trending on Pinterest, gingerbread is wafting through bakery windows, yum, yum, yum!

Autumn just gets me in the mood for baking and sweet treats! I've been eyeing up recipes and baking options online and on other people's blogs, and I can't decide what to bake first! Are you baking anything this season?

5. Autumn Evenings

Now, this may just be me - but don't you just love the night sky at this time of year? For some unknown reason, I have so much more appreciation for the stars and I really start to enjoy gazing up at the night sky. Tucked up warm in soft blankets, sat next to a crackling fire and looking up to the stars! Maybe this one is just me... tell me I'm not alone!

6. Change is Coming

We all know that 2020 has been quite the year! To me, Autumn represents change through the altering colours of the leaves and wildlife preparing to hibernate ready for the new year. While 2020 has certainly been a memorable one, I think many of us will be grateful when it's over and hope for a better year in 2021!

What's your favourite thing about Autumn?

I'm not really a fall/autumn person but I do like the coziness of wrapping myself in a blanket while reading a book. I love Spring and Summer with the lengthening day length and the flowers that come with these seasons.
